We sincerely welcome the future science technology leaders who have joined POSTECH mechanical engineering.
Our mechanicl engineering program accepted the first students in 1987, and started the graduate program the year after, playing a leading role in the education and research of the country’s mechanical engineering with the motto of training individuals of small elite groups.
Currently in the year 2017, 371 students including 188 undergraduate students, 18 graduate students, 20 doctoral program students, and 145 combined master’s and doctorate program students along with 22 professors, 15 researchers, and 8 administrative staffs have worked together as one to devote to education and research.
We have established Advanced Fluids Engineering Research Center, which has been designated as an excellent research center by Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, and other affiliated research centers including Intelligent Robotics Laboratory, Wind Energy Laboratory, Research Center for Micro Mechanical Systems, Automobile Electric Research Center, and MEMS Research Center for National Defense as well as 13 national research laboratories and 2 creative research groups.
In particular, percentages of hosting creative research groups and national research laboratories indicates an unbelievable value of 70% compared to the number of professors, which exceeds that of any other universities of the country and thus showing excellent research capabilities of the faculty. As last year’s research achievements, including obtaining research funds of $13.5 million, 147 SCI paper publications, and 39 patents registered, confirm POSTECH’s mechanical engineering department’s research achievements have research a world-class level in quantity, and also competing with top tier universities of the world in quality.
POSTECH mechanical engineering prepares for your future with a 8.5 professor to student ratio for undergraduate program, 8.3 for graduate program, granting scholarships to all students and courses, high-tech research equipment and comfortable living environments, and the joy of learning from world-class professors.
