재료가공 및 바이오시스템 연구실에서는 사출성형(Injection molding), 핫엠보싱(hot embossing), 마이크로압출성형(micro extrusion) 등의 마이크로/나노 고분자 성형공정을 연구하고 있으며, 위의 공정을 바탕으로 하는 바이오 응용분야, 미세유체장치, 마이크로/나노 구조를 가지는 표면 성형, 조직 공학 등의 다양한 분야를 개발/연구하고 있다.
