The laboratory is researching the development of micro parts through the powder injection molding process through the mixing process, rheological behavior, injection molding process, degreasing process, and sintering process of powder materials with polymer binders and mixtures. If you are dealing with metal powders such as tungsten, rhenium, stainless steel, titanium, and ceramic powders such as alumina, zirconia, aluminum nitride, silicon carbide, tungsten carbide, etc. We are conducting research on the prediction of material behavior and physical properties during the period. Another area of research is the introduction of artificial intelligence into the manufacturing process. Numerical models such as FEM/DEM currently in use take a lot of computation time. Therefore, we want to reduce the computation time of numerical models by using AI. In addition, AI can reduce errors that inevitably occur due to approximations during the computation process of numerical models.
MAJOR RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENTS
- Development of material characterization, modeling, and multiscale simulation in powder processing (die compaction, powder injection molding, and sintering) of nanoscale powders (tungsten, tungsten heavy alloy, tungsten carbide, silicon carbide, etc.)
- Development of micro powder injection molding for medical and electronic applications
- Investigation on mechanical properties of biological materials (bamboo, turtle shell, and big ram horn)
