The Flow Physics and Engineering Lab aims to design energy-friendly and environmentally innovative energy conversion and propulsion systems through analysis and understanding of multiphysics flow phenomena using high-reliability numerical analysis methods. To achieve this goal, (i) the development of large-eddy simulations for detailed analysis of complex turbulent flows; (ii) Development of integrated prediction and analysis technology for multiphysical thermal flow phenomena inside steam turbines, gas turbines, and jet engines; (iii) Development of integrated analysis technology of fluid-structure-acoustic linkage phenomena involved in living body and renewable energy systems; (vi) Turbulent flow, active and passive control of flow separation phenomena, and technology development for biomimetic optimization are being conducted.
